Wrt to center of mass.

Net force acting on m 1 and m 2

Applying work energy the same on system.

Fx + Fx – Kx 2 = 0 – 0

= x (i) when F is

∴ F = F 1 + m 1 ...(i)

∴ F = ....(ii)

Put value of F from (ii) is (i) use get x.
